Jack Harlow Flexing his Lyrical Prowess

It feels like we haven’t heard from Jack Harlow for a little while, but the rapper just dropped his new album, “Jackman.” which has an overall old-school feel in most of the beats with soulful background vocals, light piano melodies, and brass instruments. This track was one of my favorites, and he really flexes his lyrical prowess, like he does with a lot of the songs on this project. Rhyming multiple syllables per line while discussing issues like white privilege and cultural tourism is no easy feat, but he makes it sound effortless. I really liked how he let the beat take a back seat on this song so he could really let the lyrics shine and get his message across. At just over a minute and a half, “Common Ground” is short, but it packs a punch and will definitely leave you thinking. As an artist who became famous with more mainstream music and lyrics without as much depth, it was very impressive to see the completely different songwriting in these songs If you enjoy this song, check out “They Don’t Love It” and “It Can’t Be” which both have a similar sound and vibe. Jack is out here to prove a point, he’s not like the other rappers out there.
